The Northampton County Bar Association and the Northampton Community College co-sponsor a program annually each fall, which provides an overview of different types of law, the inner workings of the court system, and the legal perspective on issues of the day to lay people. Volunteers are invited to share their knowledge on the broad range of topics covered. Christopher Reid of Hof & Reid LLC , a civil litigation attorney with 14 years of litigation experience with an office in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, who focuses his practice on personal injury claims representing plaintiffs, accepted an invitation to speak at the People's Law School on Thursday, October 17, 2013, on the topic of Civil Litigation. His presentation was well received.
An explosion at the Victaulic Plant in Lower Macungie resulted in serious injuries to multiple workers at the plant. Christopher Reid of Hof & Reid LLC , filed personal injury lawsuits on behalf of two such Victaulic blast victims, one of whom suffered very serious burn and physical injuries and both of whom suffered psychological injuries. The lawsuits involved allegations of negligence and products liability against the companies that designed, manufactured, installed, and serviced the foundry equipment at the Victaulic Plant. Settlements were reached with four of the six companies named in the lawsuits.
When a collision takes place between a motorcycle rider and an enclosed vehicle, there can be little doubt as to which party will emerge the worse for wear. Motorcycle enthusiasts across Pennsylvania find riding to be an exhilarating way to travel, and many prefer this mode of transport over any other. There are inherent risks associated with motorcycle travel, however, and one recent car accident serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly a great ride can turn into tragedy.

A Pennsylvania woman who pleaded guilty to a drunk driving accident that injured a state trooper was recently sentenced to 14 to 28 months in state prison. The drunk driving accident occurred last December when the woman was heading home after a baby shower she attended the night before. Her unwise decision to drive while intoxicated resulted in serious injuries to the on-duty police officer which will affect him for the rest of his life.
