2 women injured in tractor trailer accident in Pennsylvania

Two women were injured in Philadelphia on May 11 after their vehicle got caught under a truck, according to local sources. Pennsylvania first-responders acted quickly enough to ensure the two women were not killed in the unusual tractor trailer accident. At this point, police are still trying to determine what caused the crash, and no charges have yet been filed. 

Medical malpractice is claimed in suit against hospital

Occasionally, a medical professional may become the victim of medical malpractice. Generally, the patient or her family may choose to make a valid claim for medical malpractice and to pursue it in the courts. In Pennsylvania, that scenario recently occurred when a young medical school graduate was admitted to a hospital with severe headaches and never came out alive.

Pennsylvania man charged in drunk driving accident

A man police say was intoxicated behind the wheel at the time of a serious car accident is facing an aggravated assault charge, according to local law enforcement. Pennsylvania police have charged the man in connection with the alleged drunk driving accident that happened on I-81 on Nov. 19. The investigation is ongoing at the time of this writing.

Attorney Christopher Reid Recovers a Settlement for Clients Harmed by an Explosion at the Lower Macungie Victaulic Plant

An explosion at the Victaulic Plant in Lower Macungie resulted in serious injuries to multiple workers at the plant. Christopher Reid of Seidel Cohen Hof & Reid, LLC, filed personal injury lawsuits on behalf of two such Victaulic blast victims, one of whom suffered very serious burn and physical injuries and both of whom suffered psychological injuries. The lawsuits involved allegations of negligence and products liability against the companies that designed, manufactured, installed, and serviced the foundry equipment at the Victaulic Plant.  Settlements were reached with four of the six companies named in the lawsuits.

Plea accepted in deadly I-78 tractor trailer accident

Quite often, a defendant in a criminal case will enter a no contest plea to get their case resolved quickly. Such is the case in Northampton County Pennsylvania where a judge has accepted a no contest plea from the driver responsible for the deadly tractor trailer accident on I-78. The driver, who was sentenced to five years probation, states that he would like to put it all behind him. However, the fact that the criminal charges against him have been resolved does not necessarily end the matter.

Hospital negligence: Wrong site surgery a focus in Pennsylvania

There is good news and bad news about hospital errors in Pennsylvania. First, due to efforts by a state agency called the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority (PPSA), the latest statistics for wrong site and wrong patient surgeries are about 25 percent lower than when the agency began collecting data in 2004. The bad news, however, is that during the 2011-2012 academic year, there were 47 reports of this form of hospital negligence.
