Auto accidents occur every day and can have lasting effects. For those involved in such accidents in Pennsylvania, it is important to understand “full tort” versus “limited tort” insurance.

Full tort

Full tort insurance coverage allows injury victims to pursue compensation for pain and suffering through personal injury claims. If you choose to select full tort coverage, it can make a significant difference. This is especially true in cases where medical issues or disabilities from an accident become apparent over time. Obtaining compensation for the pain and suffering you endure can affect the overall quality of your life for many years to come.

Limited tort

By selecting a limited tort plan, insured parties save slightly on monthly premiums but, with limited exception, forfeit the right to pursue pain and suffering damages.

Regardless of whether you have full tort or limited tort insurance coverage, you may require a legal advocate to help you obtain the full insurance benefits you deserve. If your insurance company delays payment or denies your claim, consider consulting an attorney to determine the best course of action.
