Truck accident closes Interstate 80 for hours

The Poconos are a favorite vacation destination for Pennsylvania residents and visitors from out of state. Each year, travelers flock to this beautiful mountain region that offers something for everyone. Recently, a truck accident caused such devastating damage and injury that all three lanes on the westbound side of I-80 in Monroe County had to be closed.

While police are still investigating the initial cause of the crash, several facts are known. Two large tractor-trailer trucks became involved in the accident on the interstate, which is a major travel route through the Poconos. One of the drivers suffered injuries so severe a helicopter was called to fly the victim to a hospital. The driver’s condition remains uncertain at this time.

Frustrated motorists took to social media, warning other drivers to avoid the route if possible. Emergency crews had to close all three westbound lanes, and some drivers were stuck in traffic for nearly three hours. Investigators are trying to determine which truck driver was at fault.

While being caught in hours of traffic is certainly a terrible start to a vacation, being injured in a truck accident can have life-altering consequences. A victim may have to face lingering injury and physical pain, emotional trauma, medical bills and other woes that can arise in the aftermath of such an accident. Many victims choose to seek assistance from an experienced personal injury attorney. A Pennsylvania attorney can help a client pursue recovery of documented monetary damages through the state’s civil justice system.
