SUV accidents caused by drunk drivers can result in a legal mess

Many Pennsylvania residents own an SUV. These vehicles are often advertised as being safe and affordable way to move groups of people or cargo that may not fit in a smaller passenger vehicle. However, SUVs are not immune to serious damage, and a recent story about SUV accidents is a sobering reality about the dangers of driving drunk.

Recently, tragedy struck on a Pennsylvania road when an SUV, driven by a man police allege was under the influence of alcohol, swerved across the road after trying to negotiate a turn. His vehicle hit a smaller passenger car. The driver of the car was killed, and the passenger in the car suffered serious injuries.

The SUV contained the driver and a passenger, and reports indicate that the passenger also suffered serious injury. Both men had to be cut out of the mangled SUV by rescue workers but are expected to survive. Though police had evidence to prove that the man driving the SUV was twice over the legal limit of 0.08, he tried to weasel out of a blood test at the hospital. He has been charged with several serious offenses, including charges of vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

When trips down Pennsylvania roads result in SUV accidents, victims may feel overwhelmed. Dealing with serious injury or the death of a relative can be a harrowing experience, and medical bills, final expenses and other financial burdens can pile up quickly. Many victims choose to seek an experienced attorney to represent them in a court of law, helping to ensure that the driver responsible for the injury or death is brought to justice, and assisting victims as they collect any damages or compensation to which they may be entitled as a result of the suffering caused by the responsible party.
