Motorcycle accidents can result from an unrelated situation

Over the summer months, Pennsylvania residents can enjoy a variety of events that celebrate motorcycle culture. From group rides to various bike events to impromptu gatherings, the warm weather draws motorcycle enthusiasts to the roads. Riders can take safety precautions like wearing a helmet and paying close attention to traffic laws to help stay safe, but unfortunately, motorcycle accidents still claim lives.

Sometimes, a person on a motorcycle can be injured or killed in an accident that did not initially involve his or her vehicle. Recently, a passenger vehicle struck another car, and the impact sent the car that was hit careening into a motorcycle in another lane. The motorcycle was hit head on.

The 47-year-old man driving the motorcycle was killed. Police are investigating the crash. It is unknown if the driver that caused the crash will be charged with a crime. Even if the party responsible does not face criminal charges, there may be recourse in civil court for a victim or his or her family.

When motorcycle accidents injure or kill a rider, victims or their surviving family members may have legal recourse. Even if a victim is deceased, his or her estate may be hit with medical bills, final expenses and bills for property damage. An experienced Pennsylvania attorney can help a client hold the driver believed responsible for the crash fully accountable in a court of law, and help collect any monetary damages to which a victim or his or her estate may be entitled.
