Fatal motorcycle accidents: who is at fault?

Summer is right around the corner, and motorcycle enthusiasts are looking forward to getting out for a ride and exploring Pennsylvania. Whether traveling solo, with a passenger, or in a group, riding a motorcycle can be an enjoyable way to get out and about and enjoy the open road. The potential for motorcycle accidents is a serious concern, and even if a rider is wearing a helmet and proper safety gear, he or she can be severely injured or killed in the event of a crash.

Recently, a Pennsylvania man in his early 20s was traveling up the road on his motorcycle. An SUV made a left turn across his lane of travel. Unable to stop in time, the man on the motorcycle crashed into the side of the SUV.

Investigators determined that the impact caused the motorcycle to skid about 40 yards before coming to a stop. The man driving the motorcycle suffered severe injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and no injuries were reported regarding persons in the SUV. Though the man on the motorcycle struck the SUV, police are clear on the fact that the SUV turned right in front of the motorcycle.

When motorcycle accidents claim lives in Pennsylvania, friends and loved ones may want to take action against the party responsible in a court of law. In some cases, a court will determine that damages and compensation should be awarded on behalf of the deceased. These monetary awards can help the executor of a victim's estate cover things like medical bills, funeral expenses and other final costs incurred after such a death. In many cases, bringing an experienced attorney on board to fight for justice on behalf of a deceased loved one can help get the process started.
