Apps to prevent distracted driving

| Feb 20, 2019 | Uncategorized |

Distracted driving takes many forms, but the most common way it manifests in today’s world is through texting and driving. Since 2013, the rate of distracted driving citations issued in Pennsylvania has increased by 172 percent. Citations are certainly preferable to getting in a car accident as a result of texting and driving.

Despite people knowing the dangers of texting while driving, plenty of people still do it. They feel tempted to look at their phone when they receive a text notification. Therefore, many people can benefit and reduce their risk of being in an auto accident if they keep one of the following apps on their phones.

TextLimit is a great app that deserves to be on everyone’s phone. The app locks your phone when you travel above a certain speed. You have the power to designate what the speed is. This ensures you can still use your phone when you go out jogging, but it locks when you drive.

Cellcontrol locks certain features when the phone travels above a given speed. It prevents the phone’s owner from texting, going on social media and taking selfies. Since its inception, the app has blocked millions of phone calls, texts and app notifications.

AT&T Drivemode

This app silences all incoming phone calls and texts. However, it still allows you to use GPS navigation and play music. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.

SafeDrive offers all the same great features as the above apps, but it comes with one great perk: It actually rewards users who successfully stay off their phones while behind the wheel. You can trade in points for discounts at stores that sponsor the app. If you were to look at your phone in the middle of your driving, then you would lose all your points. You benefit by staying safe.
