Communities across Pennsylvania are in shock as the news spreads about a recent tragedy. A young boy, reported to be in second grade, was killed in a car accident. The child, a pedestrian waiting for his daily school bus to arrive, was struck by a car.

The driver of the car did not stop to render aid, but claimed later to be unaware of what had occurred. The child was discovered dead at the scene by the bus driver, who arrived a short time later. The bus driver immediately called for help, but nothing could be done to save the boy.

Parents and teachers are now speaking out, saying that perhaps accidents like this could be avoided if children were not expected to wait in the dark for their bus to arrive. Many are now suggesting that pickup and dropoff times for buses should be changed so they occur during daylight hours, and suggest that children be provided with flashlights or reflective gear to alert drivers to their presence. The driver that struck the child has not been identified, but was reportedly cooperative with the investigation.

When a Pennsylvania  child dies or is seriously injured as the result of a car accident, parents may be at a loss for how to proceed. In a time of grief and suffering, it may be difficult to stay on top of medical bills, funeral expenses, police investigations and other details that must be handled in the aftermath of a crash. Many families choose to turn to an experienced attorney to help as they attempt to seek justice on behalf of their loved one.
