Car accident leads to injuries, citation for driver

A man who police said caused a Pennsylvania accident in December was recently cited for operating a car too quickly. The car accident took place at around 9:00 p.m. on a Wednesday toward the end of the month. The man and two other individuals suffered injuries in the collision.

According to police, the 65-year-old man was navigating a car north along a road and arrived at a covered bridge with a single lane. He reportedly did not yield the right-of-way to a compact SUV that a 79-year-old man was driving south. Thus, the car ended up hitting the bridge and then the SUV head-on.

At that point, the car flew into the air and flipped over before hitting the SUV. It finally landed on its roof. The man driving the car, along with his 81-year-old male passenger, suffered injuries as a result of the crash. A passenger in the SUV was also hurt in the wreck.

The injured passengers have the right to file personal injury claims against the car driver, seeking damages. They may present the citation in civil court in an effort to establish liability, which is required before a judge will adjudicate claims for financial damages. In a successfully fought lawsuit, an award of monetary damages may help the injury victims to address their medical bills and other expenses stemming from the car accident in Pennsylvania. In addition, the monetary award may help to address emotional distress and pain and suffering resulting from the motor vehicle collision.
