Two women recently suffered injuries in a Pennsylvania automobile crash. The car accident took place early in the morning on a Sunday. Only one vehicle was involved in the motor vehicle collision.

The collision occurred at around 2:40 a.m. According to police, a woman, 18, was driving a car and suddenly lost control of the motor vehicle. The car then ran off the road and hit a tree.

Both the driver and her passenger, another 18-year-old woman, were hurt as a result of the collision and were transported to the hospital. Police said they thought the driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision. A drunk driving charge was pending the completion of the police's investigation into the collision.

If the driver is found to have caused the injury accident due to driving while under the influence, the passenger may choose to file a personal injury claim against her, seeking the reimbursement of damages. A preponderance of the evidence is needed to establish liability in such a civil case. If the driver ends up with a drunk driving charge and a subsequent conviction, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court to establish the driver's financial responsibility for the passenger's injuries. A successfully litigated case may lead to a monetary damage award that may help with covering the loss of wages, medical costs and other losses tied to the Pennsylvania car accident. It might also be helpful for addressing emotional distress and pain and suffering resulting from the wreck.
