Fleeing the scene of a collision is never advisable, regardless of the circumstances involved. In addition to being against the law, such a decision may only lead authorities to have increased suspicion of fault or wrongdoing. Authorities continue to search for two individuals that were involved in a recent hit-and-run car accident that left two with injuries and claimed the life of another in Pennsylvania.
According to reports, the incident took place just after midnight on a recent Wednesday. Two vehicles were involved, and the initial impact forced one to come to rest in the yard of a nearby residence. There were three individuals in this vehicle at the time of the crash, two of whom suffered injuries in the process. The third was reportedly ejected from within the vehicle and was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to a medical facility.
An investigation into the incident is underway, and authorities have advised that the driver and a passenger in the other vehicle fled the scene on foot. They reportedly left the vehicle at the scene, which allowed police to obtain an address to use in their pursuit. Should the investigation determine the driver of that vehicle to be at fault in the collision, the victims and the surviving family members of the deceased may choose to pursue accountability through the civil justice system.
Suffering serious injuries or losing someone close in a dangerous car accident can be a stressful and daunting process. Those who wish to pursue restitution under similar circumstances could benefit from speaking with an attorney for assistance in the process. A personal injury attorney can evaluate the situation and assist a client in Pennsylvania in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a claim against the party deemed culpable.
