Pennsylvania woman convicted for her role in fatal car accident

Car insurance companies view teen drivers as a high-risk category due in part to their inexperience and impulsive behaviors behind the wheel. However, even though these young drivers are often at fault when there is a serious or fatal car accident, sometimes there are mitigating factors. One Pennsylvania woman was recently convicted for her role in a fatal accident that occurred in 2015.

A 46-year-old woman was on trial for allegedly supplying alcohol to minors, which led to a fatal accident that took the lives of two teen boys. The woman was charged with involuntary manslaughter, corruption of minors, furnishing alcohol to under-aged drinkers and endangering the welfare of minors. After two hours of deliberations, a jury voted to convict the woman on all counts.

According to witness statements and evidence presented during the trial, the woman allowed the teens to imbibe alcohol in her home as well as supplied the beverages to the kids. One participant testified that the woman allowed drinking and rowdy gatherings in her home on approximately eight separate occasions within a six-month time span. The woman's husband was also convicted of corrupting minors and supplying underage persons with alcohol.

The pair are currently awaiting sentencing. The parents of one of the victims stated that she would not have permitted her son to attend any gatherings at the home had she been aware of the presence of alcohol. When Pennsylvania families lose loved ones to a fatal car accident, they likely experience a myriad of emotions, including deep sorrow and possibly anger at the ones responsible for the wreck. The families of these victims could possibly consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit against this couple for the role they played in this tragic wreck.
