2 dead following fatal car accident in Pennsylvania

A fatal crash late on the night of March 16 left two people dead, according to local sources. Pennsylvania police have reported that two people were killed in a single-car accident on Route 322. So far, they have not determined the cause of the accident, and their investigation is still underway.

According to preliminary reports, the crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Route 322 around 9:45 p.m. Radio dispatches from the scene indicated that one person had been trapped inside the vehicle while the other had been ejected onto the roadway. It is not clear at this time which of the two occupants was the driver, but police have confirmed that one male and one female were involved.

Both occupants were reported dead at the scene. Police have not yet commented publicly on what they believe caused the car accident. They have not indicated whether reckless driving or intoxication may have played a role. At this point, they are asking for any witnesses to the crash to please come forward and contact Susquehanna Township Police with information.

Should it become clear that driver error, recklessness or intoxication were the cause of this car accident, the family of the passenger may have legal recourse available to them. Pennsylvania law states that a victim’s family is entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver’s estate and anyone else with ownership interest in the vehicle in a case where driver error is found to be the cause of the crash. Such a suit would be handled in a civil court setting.
