So far, no one has been charged in the case of a fatal accident that claimed the life of an Ursinus College sophomore, according to local sources. Pennsylvania authorities are still investigating the particulars of the car accident that killed the woman. Police say that the driver involved in the accident remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.

It is unclear if the student was heading to class when she stepped into a crosswalk on a busy street that crosses the campus. The accident, which took place around 7 p.m. on Dec, 17, left the student dead at the scene according to medical personnel who arrived shortly thereafter. The driver involved remained at the scene and submitted to a blood test to determine whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the cause of the crash.

Police are also investigating driving conditions as a possible cause of the crash. The student was widely liked and counselors were being provided by the school to talk about the accident with other students, who were understandably shaken up. So far, no charges have been filed against the driver.

Even if no formal charges are filed by Pennsylvania police in this case, the family of the deceased woman may still be able to seek justice in a civil court setting. The family can file a wrongful death suit against the driver. Presuming sufficient evidence exists that the driver was at least partially culpable for the car accident, the family could seek financial damages for the tragic death.
