Woman charged with DUI in fatal car accident in Pennsylvania

| Jun 30, 2015 | Car Accidents |

A trial is in the offing for a Warminster woman who stands accused of DUI in the case of a fatal accident in Lower Southampton Township back in March, according to local sources. The woman is facing the charges in a Pennsylvania criminal court following the fatal car accident that claimed the lives of two women. Two felony counts are among the numerous charges, including one for vehicular homicide by vehicle and another for vehicular homicide by vehicle while DUI.

The accident report indicates that on March 19, the woman was intoxicated behind the wheel of her vehicle when she lost control while traveling on a local road. She collided head-on with another vehicle traveling the opposite direction. Both passengers in the other vehicle were killed on impact.

The accused woman was also charged with DUI in 2008. While she is currently free on bail, she will have to return to court after waiving her right to a preliminary hearing. There was no stated court date included in the report.

Should enough evidence exist to prove the criminal charges with regard to the car accident, she could face serious jail time, the loss of her driver’s license and other serious consequences. Separately, the families of the deceased passengers will be entitled under Pennsylvania law to file wrongful death charges against her. Should appropriate evidence of her negligence be presented to satisfy a civil court, she could be found responsible for the monetary damages sustained as a result of this fatal accident.
