Car accident injures jogger in Pennsylvania

Nov. 14 was a day of tragedy when a car struck a jogger in Ardmore, according to local sources. The car accident, which is still being investigated by Pennsylvania authorities, sent an unidentified woman to a local hospital with serious injuries. There has been no word yet as to whether police intend to press charges against the driver.

The specifics of the accident are somewhat unclear. It appears that the jogger was crossing a street with the light when the crash occurred. The driver in question was waiting at the light, and when it turned green, the driver carried on into the intersection, somehow striking the jogger in the process.

There is no indication as to the current status of the jogger, but she is believed to have survived the initial impact. Police have also not commented on what factors they believe may have caused the accident, including intoxication or unsafe conduct. No one else appeared to have been hurt in the crash, but police are continuing to investigate, and the road was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation.

Under Pennsylvania law, a pedestrian has the right-of-way, particularly when traveling with a light. If the pedestrian remained in the intersection after the light turned, it is the responsibility of the driver to wait until the pedestrian is safely out of the way before continuing through. As a result, it is possible that the driver will face criminal charges in connection with this car accident. Additionally, the jogger will be entitled to file a personal injury suit against the driver, even in the absence of a criminal conviction.
