Pennsylvania car accident claims 5 lives

Three children are numbered among the deceased following a horrific crash on Route 115, according to local sources.  Pennsylvania authorities responded to the car accident that also killed two adults on the afternoon of Sept. 20.  While four vehicles were involved in the accident, all five victims were traveling in the same minivan.  Three other individuals were also injured.

Details about the accident are sketchy as of this report, but police have reason to believe the driver of the minivan may have been speeding at the time of the crash.  The minivan was traveling south at the time, while the other vehicles were traveling north.  As a result it seems likely the driver may have lost control and traveled into the other lane, though that has not been confirmed by police at this time.

It appears that all five victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, though it is unclear whether the driver was among those killed.  Three other individuals, presumably riding in other vehicles involved in the crash, were injured in unspecified ways and taken to a local hospital for treatment. The crash is still under investigation, and so far no charges have been filed.

Too little information is available for Pennsylvania authorities to come to a decisive conclusion about the cause of this tragic car accident.  However, if police can prove the driver of the minivan was speeding and thus contributed to the cause of the accident, that driver could be held accountable for the crash.  If the driver is deceased, the families of the other victims and the injured parties could file suit against the driver's estate and any ancillary owners of the vehicle. If the driver lived, it is possible he or she will likely also face criminal charges associated with this terrible accident.
