4-car accident in Pennsylvania sends three to hospital

A local man has been cited in connection with a devastating crash on May 11 that left three people seriously injured, including the driver and his passenger. Pennsylvania police responded to the car accident in the late morning. The driver has since been cited for unsafe speeds, though no court date has yet been set.

Witnesses say the driver, a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man, was driving south at a high speed when he collided with a pickup truck attempting to turn off the road. The force of the collision was so great that it propelled the pickup truck into the road where it struck two other vehicles. Thankfully, the further two vehicles were only slightly damaged and their occupants were uninjured.

The driver and passenger of the first vehicle were badly hurt and were airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was offered treatment at the scene but refused, agreeing to visit a hospital later. Both vehicles were seriously damaged in the crash.

Depending upon the outcome of the investigation, one or both drivers could end up being cited or charged in connection with this car accident. In either case, the passenger in the first vehicle is not at fault, but was injured nonetheless, which could mean a costly period of recovery. It may be possible for the injured passenger to seek financial compensation from one or both drivers. Once the victim is able to focus on something other than recovering, a personal injury suit filed in civil court could help the victim recover any costs and damages associated with the accident.
