Elderly Bethlehem man dies in car accident

An elderly Bethlehem man became the victim of a deadly motor vehicle crash recently. The man was hit by a vehicle at an intersection, but the details surrounding exactly what happened were not initially disclosed. Authorities have declined to provide details surrounding the deadly car accident, solely indicating that it remained under investigation.

After the crash, the man was transported to a local hospital, suffering from several ‘blunt force injuries.’ Authorities have classified this tragic car crash as an accident. So far, no information about the driver has been released, but a crash reconstruction team has stepped in to attempt to piece together the sequence of events that resulted in the fatality.

The area where the accident occurred was shut down in order to conduct the investigation. Authorities refused to speculate on the cause of the crash or what they believe may have happened. Hopefully, once the report is completed, the man’s family will be able to rest easier knowing what happened to their loved one.

When a pedestrian dies in a car accident, it is understandably difficult for their families to accept it. At this time, there are no criminal charges pending against the driver, but that could change as the accident investigation progresses. Most Bethlehem residents understand that criminal charges do not automatically result in a conviction and punishment for a driver. Surviving family members retain the right to file a civil case based upon evidence that the driver negligently caused the death of their loved one. A successful case could result in a monetary award and the comfort in knowing they were able to ensure full accountability for what happened to their family member.
