Three people tragically lost their lives in Lehigh Valley, according to local sources. Pennsylvania authorities have reported that three men died in a car accident on the afternoon of Nov. 29. As of this report, the investigation into the cause of the accident is still underway.

The three men, aged 46, 28 and 58 respectively, were all passengers in a pickup truck driven by a 49-year-old man. They were apparently on a hunting trip in northeast Pennsylvania when the wreck happened. For reasons unknown, around 3:40 p.m. the driver veered off the road they were traveling on before striking a tree.

Seat belts were not engaged at the time of the crash. The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver somehow survived. He suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. His current status is unknown. Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Pennsylvania police have not been forthcoming about what they think might have caused the car accident at this time. They have not publicly ruled out intoxication or recklessness, and it is standard procedure for toxicology tests to be taken in fatal accidents. If police uncover any evidence that the driver may have been partially or fully responsible for the accident due to intoxication or careless driving, criminal charges may be filed. Regardless, the families of the deceased passengers retain the right to file a case in civil court. They are entitled under state law to file wrongful death lawsuits against the driver and any other registered owner of the car he was operating.
