One person was reported dead and five more were rushed to a local hospital following a serious crash on Route 30 in Franklin County. The Pennsylvania State Police have been investigating the car accident that claimed the life of a 51-year-old man on the morning of Aug. 15. So far, no charges have been filed in association with the case.

According to the accident report, a 63-year-old man was driving east along Route 30 at the time of the accident. The man's vehicle drifted into the center lane and then into the westbound lane for unknown reasons. His vehicle struck another on the right-front side, causing the second vehicle to spin 180 degrees. The first vehicle continued on, striking a third vehicle head-on.

Two individuals were airlifted to a local hospital with injuries of a severity not currently known. Three other people suffered minor injuries. The driver of the first car hit went into cardiac arrest at the scene of the accident and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Route 30 was shut down entirely for some time while police endeavored to determine the cause of the crash. As of this writing, no concrete determination has been made.

Pennsylvania law enforcement will continue to investigate this car accident until a suitable cause has been found. When it is, the driver responsible may face the full force of state law and the appropriate consequences for his or her actions. However, the families of the deceased and those injured in the crash will also be entitled to file for personal injury and wrongful death in a civil court setting.
