1 person injured in Pennsylvania car accident

A five-vehicle crash has critically injured one person and may have injured more, according to local sources. Pennsylvania police responded to the car accident, which involved five cars, in the early morning of July 29. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, and no charges have yet been filed in connection with this case.

According to a police statement, a vehicle traveling south struck another car that had stopped, then went on to sideswipe a second stopped vehicle before striking two more. Local medical personnel responded to the accident as did law enforcement. Police report there was at least one major injury associated with the event, though they declined to comment on the extent of any further injuries that may have resulted from the accident.

Police have not commented on whether speed and/or intoxication were factors in this crash. No charges have been filed at this point, and it is unknown whether the first driver, who seems to be responsible for the accident, is in police custody. The status of the injured party is also unknown at the time of this writing.

Too little is known about the details of this car accident to make an accurate determination of the case's outcome at this point. However, Pennsylvania traffic law is clear in its outlining of driver conduct, requiring anyone operating a motor vehicle to be aware of other drivers on the road. If the person driving the first vehicle is found to have been negligent in this regard, he or she will likely face criminal charges. Regardless, any injured parties will be able to file personal injury suits against the driver in question.
