Pennsylvania boy dies in tragic drunk driving accident

A young Pennsylvania boy has died as a result of an alleged drunk driving accident. A man is now being held without bond at a local jail in connection with the death. The drunk driving accident occurred when the man struck two children playing in the yard of their home. Witnesses to the tragic crash claim the man failed to stop after he ran over the children.

A neighbor at the crash scene chased after the driver and made it known that he had written down his license plate numbers and authorities would be there soon. When the driver exited the vehicle witnesses claimed he was extremely disoriented and stumbled around. The man reportedly drove up the sidewalk and somehow managed to navigate through an opening between a large rock and a utility pole. Then he drove up an embankment, into the yard of the house and struck the stairs where the children were playing.

The driver has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault while driving under the influence and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Another little boy playing in the yard sustained injuries in the accident, but he is expected to be okay. Police suspect the man may also have been under the influence of at least two powerful drugs.

A Pennsylvania drunk driving accident can often end in tragedy, as evidenced by this sad story. When families lose a loved one due to the negligent actions of another, they will likely be grieving for a long period of time. However, they also have legal avenues available to seek to hold the person deemed responsible fully accountable for their actions. Although the man is facing criminal charges for his actions in this horrific action, he is not absolved of civil liability and may be required to answer proceedings in both a criminal and civil court.
